Meeting hate with hate is a net negative

Over the past few days I've seen one of my favorite conservative pages on Facebook get progressively more and more hateful towards liberals and then defend it saying "we can't afford to be nice anymore! If you don't like that, then you're against us!"

I don't buy that, Why does hate have to be met with hate to preserve our God given rights? How are we any better than them if we met their hate with hate of our own. This is not a union, this is a poo slinging fight. I've said it before and I'll say it again: if we meet the liberal's intolerance and hate with some of our own, we're no better fit to lead this country back to greatness than they are.

This country is called the UNITED Stated of America, and boy we couldn't be further from that. yes, it's still there by name, but in practice? No. Just,...just no.

If the liberals want to be hateful jerks, let them. Let them show the world their hateful tactics. Meanwhile let's show the world our compassion. let's show the world our charitable attitudes. There's no need to be hateful back at them. Does this mean let them walk all over you? No. But don't be hateful just to be hateful. It's unjust.

Pray. Listen. Retort politely. There's no need to be automatically hateful. If you do, you're no better than the people you're trying to discredit.

Remember, God's will will be done regardless of what we want. Remember also that God only helps those that help themselves. If you're hateful, you're not helping anyone, especially yourself.

In short, just because they're hateful, doesn't mean you have to be, despite popular opinion.

Racism still runs rampant in modern day America, and we allow it

Race should be colorblind
As a follow up to my article from early this year about MLK's dream. I decided to take a deeper look at my feeling about race relations in this grand country of ours. However before I do I need to issue a disclaimer: The opinion you are about to read will likely not be popular. However, the truth sometimes isn't and I see what I'm about to say as fact. (It may even be considered to be by some, racist. But take to heart that's not what it's meant to be.) With that said, let us begin.

Last time I tackled this issue I said that I look forward to the day when I can stroll down N 5th Street with my brother-from-another-mother Kendrick screaming for joy that at last White and Black parameters no longer exist, we are just humans and God's children. I still look forward to this day, but with each passing day that goes by, I see it slip further and further away.

And that became no more apparent then almost 3 months ago on July 4th, our nation's Independence Day.

Hey, Everyone! Some updates for you.

Hey, everyone! I just thoughts I'd check in and share a few thoughts. I haven't posted much lately on here. Been too hung up in BRaysball Talk.

First off, nothing has really changed in my life unfortunately. I'm still as anxiety driven house-bound as I was last time we talked. I pray for God's help to finally build up the courage to go seek help. Our God is awesome. I know he can.

My brother started up another season of Marching band about a month ago. I haven't seen any of the show yet and I want to. It's his Junior year and I've only been to one game, I'm incredibly disappointed in myself about that. I do plan to go off to the Oct. 5th home game against the Bolts and just have some fun. Haven't had fun outside the house in a while which is a shame. I have a promise to keep to someone. I'm gonna keep it.

I stand with Chick-fil-A!

To me this is very easy to do. Why? Well I'll tell you why. First and foremost, they haven't said anything hateful. They, the Chick-fil-A executives were very respectful in the statement of their beliefs as a company. They didn't strike down any one or their beliefs, they didn't say "gays should be shot". They didn't do any of that. Yet they're being treated like they did when all they said was simply that they believe in the Biblical definition of marriage. While they're not the first to be demonized for doing so, this is by far the worst I've heard of a holder or a group of holders of this belief being treated in a while.

Why does their belief disqualify them of their entrepreneurial rights? How does their business effect your life if it does business in Chicago or Boston? The simple fact to both of the questions is it doesn't. Many will argue otherwise but here's why. As Americans they have the right to say what they want as long as it doesn't violate hate speech laws, which what they said doesn't. Therefore they don't have to forfeit any of their other rights. And this is why the mayors of Chicago and Boston look like jerks.

POEM: I Need You

I Need You
By Aaron Giddens

I try to be the best person I can be
But I fall short so often.
I try to be the least selfish person I can be.
But again I often fall short.
I try not to hurt the ones I love.
But I fall short often.
Am I a bad person?
Do I not try hard enough?
I don't know.
Will they forgive me?
Will I ever stop doing these selfish, hurtful things?
I'm sorry I do these things, and I do want to do better.
Will you help me better myself?
Will you be there for me if I need you?
I know I need to invoke the effort but with you here it gets easier.
Now that you're here, I can get better.
With you here, I have a reason to get better.
With you here, I am complete.
Stay with me now.
I need you.
