However, some thoughts on the fanbase and the debt owed to the City of St. Pete, 3 years ago there was no great cry from the Tampa side of the bay to build a stadium closer to its residents, why? Take a look at the teams lack of success going back 3 years plus, it was not until the Pennant run and World Series appearance did the City of Tampa residents decide that they would go to games if they were more convenient. Front runners? of course they are, but every team needs them, they provide that extra revenue that gives the team maybe two more premium players. The City of St. Pete were the one's that stuck their neck out and built a stadium which wasa huge factor in MLB awarding this area a franchise. It is true that the big money came from Tampa businessmen, it is also true that Tampa/Hillsborough would not build them a stadium.<br />My bottom line doesn't differ that much from yours, but the City of St. Pete has earned a seat at the table to voice any and all arguments against moving the team out of the City.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
